Knock at a Star, A Child's Introduction to Poetry, by X.J. Kennedy and Dorothy M. Kennedy, Little, Brown and Company, revised edition 1999.

Ed Emberley's Drawing Book of Animals, by Ed Emberley, Little, Brown and Company, 1970. There are several books in this series and they're all great!
