Author Visits

"Joan Cottle was one of the
most delightful speakers we've had in the Los Gatos Library.
Joan has a light-hearted but firm handle on the route to follow
from fine arts painter to children's book illustrator and author-
the route she so successfully took. Her presentation has an appeal
for all ages."
-Mary Ann Cook, president, Friends
of Los Gatos Library
"What was so valuable about
Joan's presentation was her manner with the children. She was
very kind and encouraging; she treated every question and comment
with respect and this caused the children to really connect with
her and to feel comfortable asking any question. She was very
honest and open with the children about her learning difficulties
as a child and this was a great encouragement to our students.
Our principle was so pleased with her presentation, that she
has requested that I set up an author visit for every year."

School
I adore visiting schools. I have
a 30 minute author and illustrator presentation where I introduce
myself, read my books, and draw for the kids. Whether we are
counting ants by tens to one hundred, or learning how to draw
Miles, my school visits are always lively and fun. I adjust my
presentation to grade level and I enjoy answering questions.
I'm very comfortable speaking to both children and adults. Please
feel free to contact me for school and library visits, store
events, conferences or workshops.
